Tchami Feat. Kaleem Taylor – Promesses (Calyx & Teebee Remix)

Ahead of it’s forthcoming release via Ministry Of Sound in January, drum & bass stalwarts Calyx & TeeBee have turned their hand to remixing Tchami’s ‘Promesses’ ft. Kaleem Taylor. Where the original mix is lucidly simple in it’s construction – as all good dance records should be – Calyx & TeeBee flip the script completely, re-hashing Taylor’s vocal and underpinning it with guttural bass licks, frenetic rhythms and bags of dance floor pedigree.

Since first coming to the music world’s attention after upping a remix of Janet Jackson’s ‘Go Deep’ in 2013 to his Soundcloud, Tchami has been included in Vice magazine’s ’30 DJ’s To Watch’ for 2014, with further remixes of AlunaGeorge’s smash ‘You Know You Like It’, Mercer’s ‘Turn It Up’ and Oliver $ and Jimi Jules’ ‘Pushing On’ all garnering support from the likes of A-Trak, Dillon Francis and Skrillex. Remixes aside, Tchami also released debut house cut ‘Untrue’ via Spinnin’ Records in April – a track that has already racked up well over a million plays on YouTube alone.

Kaleem Taylor meanwhile, first made his name after his track ‘Blowout’ aired on DJ Target’s BBC Radio 1Xtra Homegrown show in 2011, before going on to support US RnB megastars Boyz II Men and Miguel at Brixton Academy. He has also performed a BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale session for Trevor Nelson in which he covered Frank Ocean’s ‘Thinking About You’ – a version that has gone on to amass over a quarter of a million YouTube views to date.
