Techno Maestro Reinier Zonneveld Concocts First Official Remix of Rising Star Mau P’s ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’

Dutch techno luminary Reinier Zonneveld has done it again, this time linking with the rising talents of fellow countryman Mau P for a remix of his surging debut single ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’. Set for a December 9 release, the new release is a perfect pairing of sonic styles, lifting Mau P’s original production to new heights with Reinier Zonneveld’s distinctive brand of sweaty, rave bliss.

The single comes on the heels of Mau P’s debut release of the original track, signed on Lee Foss’ influential Repopulate Mars imprint, and licensed to Island UK, Republic Records and Virgin Germany. With the original ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’ finding heavyweight support from headlining DJs like Tiësto, John Summit, David Guetta, DJ Snake, Diplo, Dom Dolla, and Wade, there’s no doubt that Reinier’s lauded techno touch will redefine ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’ for the scene’s deep, dark underground.

“When I first released ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’ I obviously hoped for it to do well but to see where it’s gone is just unbelievable. Reinier has been remixing the track in his signature style during his live sets for a while now! It’s really cool to see the track in this new light on his official remix and it’s an absolute honor to be releasing this track together.”Mau P

“From the moment that I heard Mau P’s original ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’, I loved it and knew it would fit perfectly in my sets. I have remixed it into a track I’ve been roadtesting for a while now and the response has been great!! It’s an honor that it has become the official remix of this monster tune and I’m excited to help tell the next chapter of the single’s story.” Reinier Zonneveld

‘Drugs From Amsterdam’ originator and city native Mau P has made a major impact on the house music scene in a remarkably short space of time. He set an incredibly high bar with his thumping debut single, the aforementioned ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’, which rocketed from the underground to become a huge global hit with a staggering 38 million plays racked up in just the couple of months following its initial release. Combining a throbbing tech house vibe with an infectious vocal hook and even sounds sampled from the Amsterdam Metro, the track cracked the Shazam Top 200 in multiple countries, hitting #3 on the Dutch Shazam Chart and #4 on the Spotify Global Viral Chart. It also enjoyed major success at radio across the world. Featuring on many national stations like the UK’s BBC Radio 1, and additions to some of the biggest streaming playlists in the world including Spotify’s Mint, Beast Mode and Housewerk. With over 30 million plays on TikTok in addition to this in its first month, it quickly became an inescapable smash.

Reinier Zonneveld, known for his visionary production and energetic marathon sets, makes a perfect creative cohort for this release. His enormous success can be attributed to exceptional talent and constant hard work. From composing his first musical piece at the age of 6, to building a cult following for his intricate live performances, the techno giant is highly respected worldwide. His own imprint Filth On Acid is one of the best-selling and most supported labels in the electronic scene. With releases from Carl Cox and many more, the label regularly claims the top spot as the leading techno label on Beatport. After becoming a resident at the legendary Awakenings and Time Warp events, Reinier took things a step further by launching his very own Live NOW Festival, raising the bar on the techno industry at large with a dominating 11-hour live performance. Reinier Zonneveld is now taking his sound back on the road, with upcoming dates across Europe, Australia, and the US.

Zonneveld’s fresh new take on Mau P’s debut release continues to show how unstoppable ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’ really is.
