Tep No – Please Me

Tep No’s moniker doesn’t have a face or real name attached to it, but is surely characterised by top notch releases that have become the trademark for this mysterious talent. The Toronto based artist is back again this month with another distinctive release by the name of ‘Please Me’. Released on the 24th of April, 2015 this single is backing up Tep No’s steady rise and is surely another high quality release to be added to his growing catalogue of highly original creations.

Since his first release ‘Promises’ in May 2014, the Canadian talent has been consistently adding hits to his resume, with tracks like: ‘Karma, You Got Owned’, ‘Lana Del Dre’, ‘Meant To Be’,  ‘Loaded Gun’, ‘It’s Alright ft. Lizz Kellermann’, and ‘The Last Ones Standing’ which was also supported by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Apart from his astonishing originals, Tep No is also establishing himself as a remixer, having official remixes for Nora En Pure and Sirena already under his name. In addition his unique style and sounds have also landed him important licensing deals for renowned brands like: Michael Kors, White House Black Label and Contiki Travel.

Released on Tep No’s own label Tep No Music, ‘Please Me’ is another important step in his career and has already been featured on the renowned YouTube channel The Vibe Guide, with views increasing exponentially. A ‘Doors’ tribute the single kicks off with a laid-back House influenced drum groove, accompanied by background babbling, adding to the tropical atmospherics around this track. The relaxed vibe is further increased with swirling effects and an 8-beat, chilled drum beat. The funky guitar riff and subby bass-lines give depth and soul to the production whilst the smooth vocals, sung by Tep No himself, add the required warmth. Moreover, the Caribbean vibe is further enhanced with percussive effects like the Cowbell snippets and Steel-drum inspired synths. Dynamics are under control at all times with precise song sectioning and well-planned energy level management, displaying Tep No’s musical mastery and skills.

Listening to ‘Please Me’ one can truly appreciate how much Tep No has grown and developed in such a short period of time. It comes to no surprise that in less than a year since he first started, Tep No has also managed to collect support from A-list DJs worldwide, namely: Robin Schultz, Thomas Jack, Diplo, Flic Flac and Gamper & Dadoni. ‘Please Me’ is beyond a doubt another feather in Tep No’s cap and a promising sign that 2015 can truly be the big year for this talented, eclectic artist.
