Releasing under his own name for the very first time, Tesfa Williams, formerly known as T.Williams, pays homage to the melting pot of genres that have influenced his sound from UKG to soulful house across his ‘Beyond Today’ EP on Heist.
Williams has been kicking out the jams across an array of moods, grooves, scenes and styles for more than a decade. 2024 saw him reach new heights with his critically acclaimed debut album ‘Raves of Future Past’ on Purple City Records, an innovative three-month vinyl store tour across the UK and North America, and a co-production credit on Becky Hill’s hit ‘Back Around’ from her chart-topping album ‘Believe Me Now?’. Add in sets everywhere from Defected Croatia to Boardmasters, a collab EP with Tailor Jae and more than a million streams for his EP on Melvo Baptiste’s The Remedy Project, and you have an artist very much defining the sound of now.
“With ‘Beyond Today’, I wanted to pay tribute to the journey that’s shaped my sound—from UKG to soulful house and everything in between. Releasing this EP under my full name, Tesfa Williams, feels like stepping into a new chapter, one that reflects the influences, growth, and energy that have brought me to this point. It’s a nod to the past but firmly grounded in the sounds of today—and beyond.” – Tesfa Williams.
Opener ‘Moments Ahead’ kicks off with velvety house drums, balmy chords and just the perfect amount of grit while a soul-drenched vocal loops atop an irresistible groove. ‘Get It Together’ is a collab with Bristolian producer Wilfy D that sees the pair layer classic R&B vocals over a grooving backdrop of breaks-laden grooves and monstrous hits.
On the flip, the London producer merges his love for soulful house with contemporary electronics on ‘Brighter Life’, a blissed-out and shuffling rhythm where sensuous chords, wet finger clicks and well-treated vocal coos all ooze sophisticated depth and intimate feels. Last but not least is ‘Futures’, a bottom-heavy late-night burner with pulsing synth sequences lighting up the heavyweight kicks.
Tesfa Williams ‘Get It Together’ will be released via Heist Recordings on 31st January 2025, with the full EP dropping on 14th February 2025.
