The Dirty Weekender Returns with Four-Day Festival Across Scotland and The Coral On The Bill

Running from November 22-25th concurrently in Edinburgh and Ayrshire with over 100 acts. More names to be announced.

Scotland’s leading indie alternative festival – The Dirty Weekender, returns for 2018 with the most exciting and loud four-day programme in November (22nd – 25th) across Scotland in two locations – Edinburgh and Ayrshire and multiple venues.

The first headliners to be announced are Liverpudlian heroes and one of the best live bands in the country, The Coral. Since their debut EP release in 2001 The Coral have sold over a million UK albums, with five reaching the Top 10 including 2003’s chart-topping Magic and Medicine. Their eight Top 40 singles include Dreaming Of You, In The Morning, Pass It On and Don’t Think You’re The First.

Organised by MFM Events, The Dirty Weekender promises to curate a line-up to remember with double the number of acts on the bill from previous years – up to 100 named acts, from emerging local talent to A-List artists.

Operating concurrently in two locations over the weekend of November 22nd-25th, (23rd-25th in Edinburgh) the festival will have programming on multiple stages, a complementing food and drink offer and an aim to set a new standard for boutique festivals in Scotland.

Speaking about the return of the Dirty Weekender, MFM's David Hanvey said: "The previous events in 2013 – 2015 were really special, but I always wanted to bring it back on a much bigger scale. Ayrshire needs its own festival it can be proud of, but it has to cover all the bases.  And the same goes for Edinburgh.

“There's no point either doing it with just all the usual big names and ignoring the wealth of young talent we have not just in the area but across the country, but equally I didn't want to aim too low and not bring the biggest and best names I could to the area.

“That's why Dirty Weekender 2018 will be bigger than ever, with about 100 acts across all stages and will feature a line-up that will blow all other boutique festivals out of the water. I couldn't be happier to have The Coral on board as the first headliner, but that's only the start, as there's a lot more to come."

With the country's music scene at a creative high, the energetic festival's ethos is to recognise the depth of young local talent while bringing the biggest names and live performances to both Edinburgh and Ayrshire music fans.

The Coral have just announced the upcoming release of their new album Move Through The Dawn, recorded at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool and produced by The Coral and Rich Turvey and marks the influential Hoylake five-piece’s follow-up to 2016’s critically-acclaimed Distance Inbetween.

With such a huge back catalogue of hits, festival favourites and all-round anthems behind them, The Coral are a band you can guarantee will be delivering a headline set that nobody will want to miss.

The Dirty Weekender runs from November 22nd-25th across Kilmarnock in the Grand Hall, Bakers, The Bellfield Tavern, Tartan Suite and Fanny By Gaslight and in Edinburgh under 'EH6 Festival' from 23rd – 25th November across Leith in Leith Theatre, Thomas Morton Hall and Dr Bells Baths in Leith.

Dirty Weekender tickets are priced from £60 for the full weekend and £29.50 for single days and are available to buy here:
