The Globe Goes Full Throttle with Metalheadz Takeover

Cardiff’s much-loved music hub, The Globe, is proud to announce an evening with legendary label and club night Metalheadz on Saturday 13th September. Expect cutting-edge drum and bass from the scene’s most respected names, Doc Scott, Quartz, Conrad Subs and Cardiff’s Electra, each bringing their unique style to the floor. With a legacy of innovation stretching back 30 years, Metalheadz has shaped the genre’s sound while consistently pushing boundaries and championing fresh talent. Tickets are now on sale starting from £13 via Skiddle.

Metalheadz was founded in 1994 by Goldie alongside DJs Kemistry & Storm, emerging from the UK rave scene to become a cornerstone of drum and bass. Its debut split 12″ release immediately signalled a commitment to forward-thinking productions, and the legendary Sunday Sessions at London’s Blue Note club fostered a culture of experimentation. Over three decades, the label has championed artists like Photek and Dillinja while continually pushing boundaries. Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, Metalheadz remains at the forefront of the genre.

Setting The Globe alight in this debut Metalheadz takeover is Coventry-born Scott McIlroy, better known as Doc Scott. He helped define the darker, more intricate side of drum and bass with early ’90s classics like Here Comes The Drumz and Shadow Boxing under his Nasty Habits alias. A regular at the mid-’90s Metalheadz Blue Note sessions and founder of 31 Records, his dynamic DJ sets and tastemaking skills continue to influence new generations.

Joining is Quartz, an artist with a cemented reputation as a leading UK drum and bass innovator through releases on Metalheadz, Hospital Records and RAM Records. His tracks have received widespread acclaim from critics and fans alike, with many praising his unique blend of dark, moody atmospheres and infectious dancefloor rhythms.

Adding to the bill comes Ipswich-based Conrad Subs (aka Ad Krolik), a new alias to resurface from the DnB talent, adding new energy to his long career under monikers like ADK and Sulako. Known for versatile productions across liquid, jump-up and classic jungle, his label Koba Audio and tracks like Leave Dem have become dancefloor staples, earning support from industry heavyweights.

Completing this quality lineup comes Cardiff native Electra who has been spinning everything from UK garage and breaks to hardcore, jungle and drum and bass on the city’s underground circuit since 2019. As co-founder of Cardiff’s rave community Headspace, resident DJ for Concrete Junglists and radio host on Diff Radio, she’s already powered sold-out Metalheadz and Function:al events with her eclectic, high-octane sets.

A cornerstone of Cardiff’s music scene, The Globe, is the perfect backdrop for this DnB spectacle, with its intimate 350-capacity space and on-point acoustics. Be quick on the early bird ticket release and grab one now from Skiddle.
