The Great Northern Announces Quality August Line Up

San Francisco’s leading club, The Great Northern, has announced its event program for August. In a typically diverse mix of credibility and creativity, acts and events lined up include Fehrplay (exclusive live performance), Wolf + Lamb, No Regular Play (live), Sage Armstrong, Luke Andy and An Orchestral Rendition Of Dr Dre’s ‘2001’ album, among many others, as the Great Northern continues on its mission to deliver a clubbing experience on par with the world’s best clubs. An original and innovative music policy with a no-expense-spared approach to quality has seen The Great Northern quietly become the venue of choice for San Fran’s clued-up clubbers. Since launch in September 2016, DJs gracing the turntables at The Great Northern include Honey Dijon, ANNA, Ame, Dixon, Osunlade, Guy Gerber, Eats Everything, Damian Lazarus, Leon Vynehall, Hernan Cattaneo, Soul Clap, John Talabot, Peggy Gou, Gerd Janson, Floorplan, Tale Of Us and many more, all of whom appreciate The Great Northern’s incredible decor (with 30ft ceilings), aerialists, custom LEDs, projection mapping and stunning 80,000w custom-built VOID Acoustic soundsystem. Celebrating the soul and feel of classic funk, disco, Latin, and Afrobeat, Afrolicious land at The Great Northern on Friday August 2nd for their ‘Love Shall Remain’ album release party. Coming off a spectacular 2018, Afrolicious will team up with BRAZA! the outfit behind some of the US’s best Brazilian parties. Check out the Afrolicious live band, DJ Soundsystem and special guests as they throw down the party ‘inna fine style!’

On Saturday 3rd August, the definitively unique combination of Wolf + Lamb arrives at The Great Northern. Label owners Zev Le Wolfe & Gadi Mizrahi are well known for their ‘all about the music’ approach, as well as the masses of intimacy, soul and passion that go into every performance. They are joined on the night by Wolf + Lamb records signees No Regular Play (Live) as well as the hugely respected King Britt and Shane One. Expect some seriously soulful house grooves.

The Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival is a music festival held annually in San Francisco, California, at Golden Gate Park. Friday 9th August sees the festival host its official after-party, inviting Dirtybird and Fool’s Gold favourite Sage Armstrong along with new Dirtybird recruits, Bot and Luke Andy for a night filled with notoriously quirky and in-your-face house beats.

On Saturday 10th August, A Club Called Rhonda returns to The Great Northern. The infamous L.A pansexual dance party was created to bridge the gap between straight and gay clubbing, and have elected to retain an air of intrigue around their next event. Alongside residents DJ M3 and GODDOLLARS, you can also expect the following – ‘2 Floors. 1 Woman. No Inhibitions.’

Talavera Records frontmen, The Soul Brothers, touch down on Thursday 15th August. Inspired by cultures of the world and the natural soundscapes of their native Mexico, The Soul Brothers utilise organic and harmonic sounds to create their unique deep house vibe. The inaugural Soulo Thursday at The Great Northern welcomes the duo, supported by The Rev. Hooman.

Friday 16th August plays host to concept which is growing in popularity across the globe. No Strings Attached present a LIVE Orchestral Rendition of Dr Dre’s seminal album ‘2001’. Featuring one of the UK’s leading orchestras along with DJ’s, singers and lyricists, who work their way through the album and some of Dre’s west coast classics from start to finish – this is not your average orchestral event and shouldn’t be missed.

Rounding off August’s live performance schedule on Saturday 17th, renowned local club brand SET continues its streak of top-rate programming, hosting Anjunabeats and Mau5trap favourite, Fehrplay, as he delivers a rare and exclusive live show at The Great Northern. The Oslo-based artist (real name Jonas Fehr) is cherished among the electronic community and often mentioned alongside the likes of Jeremy Olander, Pryda, Jody Wisternoff and many others. Expect an extended and memorable performance from the talented Norwegian.

With another month of amazing talent and an unrivalled atmosphere, The Great Northern continues to build an enviable reputation; the club in San Fran where those that know their music go to play, and where the world’s best underground DJs want to play.
