Mid December will see Sidetrak Records offer up a remix package of The Hempolics’ ‘In My Brain’ featuring Faithless frontman Maxi Jazz.
Sidetrak Records is the brainchild of Karl Frampton and Paul Johnson (Red Star Arcade), who both feature on this remix package set for release via their imprint. Here we see Sidetrak enlist ‘In My Brain’ from London-based Dub/Reggae band The Hempolics for a remix package, the track’s taken from their forthcoming ‘Kiss, Cuddle & Torture’ L.P on BBE Records, and since the bands inception they’ve collaborated with Paolo Nutini and of course Maxi Jazz who we see featured here, vocalist Nubiya Brandon can also be heard providing vocal styling’s for the rising Maribou State outfit.
Opening up the release is the first remix coming courtesy of Hot Creations / ViVa artist Denney, who treats us to a melodious, bass heavy composition laid out over seven minutes with drawn out sub tones, dreamy synth licks and bumpy drums opening things up on a smooth, hypnotic tip. Pete Tong future star tipped Cristoph’s interpretation follows, taking a more reserved approach and offering up a stripped drum-led workout.
Label co-founder Karl Frampton teams up with Adam Shaw next to provide an entrancing hook driven version with a chuggy square wave bass line driving things alongside crunchy drums and sporadic dub stabs. Midnight Social’s head honcho Carlo Gambino follows with a classy, understated reshape fuelled by warbling sub tones and the heavily dubbed out vocals of Maxi Jazz leading the way. Sidetrak co- founder Red Star Arcade then closes the package on a charming tip with a warm ambience tucked into the depths, while bright strings and piano flourishes instil a further musicality to round this package off brilliantly.
The Hempolics ‘In My Brain ft. Maxi Jazz’ remix package is out on Sidetrak Records 15th December 2014.
