Standing as one of the true essential festival experiences of the summer, Standon Calling 2019 promises to be a diverse and eclectic celebration bringing together an unrivalled programme across the July weekend – rich with entertainment for the whole family as the perfect home for all ages looking for an unforgettable festival experience.
Already boasting star-studded headliners Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Wolf Alice and Rag’n’Bone Man – along with a broad mix of styles and sounds across multiple stages – Standon Calling continues to grow with spectacular new names, lead by The Japanese House. One of the most critically revered new artists of recent times, Amber Bain has been a transfixing force ever since the release of her first EPs, scooping plaudits across the board for her refreshing and unique sound. Her recently released debut album ‘Good At Falling’ was a confirmation of that, with rapturous UK headline shows cementing her place as a cherished favourite across the globe. Returning to Hertfordshire, this is primed to be a homecoming not to be missed.
New music is one of the beating pillars of Standon Calling, with an unrivalled away of new music favourites already confirmed to make their mark. Fresh from storming SXSW, Annabel Allum will bring her buzzsaw riffs to the Hertfordshire fields – showing just why so many are tipping her for future breakthrough stardom. After a memorable set at last year’s festival (which saw headliner Bryan Ferry write to them afterwards to sing their praises), Maven Grace return with their distinctive haunting and cinematic sound, with a live show that’ll have thousands enticed from the very first note.
Annabel Allum said:
"I’m really excited to play Standon Calling. I’ve always wanted to play and I’m excited to see The Big Moon play some new material. I’ve missed them! Other highlights will include the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Wolf Alice (of course) & my boys Honey Lung!"

“Standon Calling is very important to us as a band and our history with the festival goes right back to its earliest days. It is a pleasure to be returning to play and we can’t wait to see everyone there.”
From live music greatness to late-night electronic frolics, these new additions join a phenomenal bill spread across the grounds of Standon Lordship, boasting an eclectic mix of international superstars, talked-about favourites and rising new talent. Headlined by the iconic Nile Rodgers & CHIC, the Mercury-Prize winning Wolf Alice and pop supremo Rag’n’Bone Man – the likes of returning local titans and Special Guests Friendly Fires, Echo & The Bunnymen, Róisín Murphy, IDLES, Lewis Capaldi, Mahalia, Kate Nash, The Big Moon, Steam Down, Band Of Skulls, The Go! Team, The Joy Formidable, Sea Girls, Erol Alkan, Simian Mobile Disco, Warmduscher and many more are all set for remarkable moments across the July weekender. With family entertainment from Dick & Dom and Mr Bloom & His Band, late-night takeovers and euphoric dance moments from Hospitality, Crazy P Soundsystem and more alongside a stellar variety of unique activities and a laugh out loud comedy bill including Russell Kane, Angela Barnes and Abandoman – Standon Calling 2019 is packed from top to bottom with something for everyone.
Speaking about the new additions, Festival Director and Founder Alex Trenchard said:
"Every year it’s really exciting to see the Standon Calling lineup take shape, especially inviting some of our favourite new artists to take to the stage. The Japanese House has been an artist we’ve been after for a while, so to have her play the festival is an absolute joy. We’re very proud that over the years we’ve introduced festival-goers to their new favourite bands, and this year is going to be no exception!"
