Dutch producer Thomas Newson returns to Nicky Romero‘s Protocol Recordings with his new melodic house “Home,” featuring singer/songwriter Flachbau. The single opens with ethereal vocals and euphonious melodies, giving way to a gently undulating bassline, making for an emotive and dreamlike sonic journey. “Home” sets the stage for Newson‘s upcoming 3-track EP “Dysnomia,” coming out later this month, which finds him diving deeper into groovier and progressive house sound. In the last few years, Newson has also experimented with tech house and other genres revolving around house music, and just last month, he remixed his classic 2015 song “Black” in honor of 10 Years of Protocol.
Thomas Newson first burst into the scene back in 2013 with a stream of big room releases on Revealed Recordings, Musical Freedom, Armada Music, Spinnin’ Records, and more. Recently his style has evolved to include more rhythmic house influences, and “Home” on Protocol Recordings fits the bill perfectly. In the previous years, his notable releases include “Skin” and “Ocean Deep” on Nicky Romero‘s label, or “Rapapa” and “Medea” under The Myth Of NYX. Newson is the son of veteran DJ and producer Marco V, with whom he has collaborated multiple times. He has lit up the stage at festivals across the world, including Tomorrowland, Creamfields, and Ultra Music Festival in Miami, to name only a few. His 2013’s single “Flute,” released with New World Sound, is now a global classic, having been viewed more than 130M times on YouTube alone.
