Sense Traxx : ‘’Sense Traxx unleash what might be their biggest record to date. ‘Tied’ is a collaboration between Bristol-based Kalyde and London’s Youth, packed with phenomenal remixes from Rich Wakley and Vangelis Kostoxenakis.
After impressing on imprints like MadTech and Skint, and after being tipped as one to watch in 2015 by BBC Radio 1 presenter Monki, Kalyde is a name who should absolutely be on your radar. Here he teams up with Youth who, thanks to a single with Atlas on Warp Records, a recent signing to Ultra, a collaboration with Hervé on Skint and festival shows throughout the summer, is having something of a landmark year.
‘Tied’ is a driving, proggy house cut with sublime vocals from Youth and intricately evolving production from Kalyde, which hooks you in from the very outset. Timeless in a way that very house records can manage nowadays, ‘Tied’ simply oozes quality and should find its place amongst the finest releases of the year.
Remixes come from Rich Wakley and Vangelis Kostoxenakis: the former creating an inspired, insistent loop from Youth’s vocal and layering it over a ghetto-house cut perfect for sleazy tech-house dancefloors, while the latter blends mind-bendingly warped synths with a low-slung bassline for a truly remarkable reinterpretation.’’
