Today – BLOND:ISH announce an Ibiza Beach Clean
Anstascia and Vivie-Ann aka BLOND:ISH are running a Beach Clean on Playa d’en Bossa,Ibiza on Tuesday 21stAugust. The event sees them partner with International Music Summit, Casita Verde, Ibiza Preservation Foundation and Woomoon.
Each year, Ibiza attracts thousands of excited tourists and ravers to its vibrant music scene and tranquil shores. However, every day on the beautiful island beaches, the sun sets on a shocking amount of abandoned litter. It’s estimated that plastic could outweigh the fish in our oceans by 2050(Ellen MacArther Foundation), and with an estimated 1.4 billion pounds of rubbish ending up in the sea every year (4Ocean), change is more crucial than ever.
The destruction of our marine wildlife and environment alongside the single use plastics epidemic is very close to the duo’s hearts; Viv spoke out about the issue in a panel discussion at IMS Ibiza this summer. For the past few years they have spearheaded the sustainable raving movement, spurred on by some stark realisations when on tour. ‘We were playing in the main room at Warung Brazil at sunrise, in this beautiful moment, but when at 8am everybody left, they left behind them this mountain of plastic bottles. This vision devastated us. A beautiful sunrise in front of thousands of discarded water bottles. That’s why the sustainable rave movement is so important; we need to realise what’s happening in the world and that every decision that we make will affect our surroundings.’
Everyone will meet at 18:00 at BEACHOUSE for a 18:30 start at Playa d’en Bossa on Tuesday 21stAugust. BLOND:ISH will be joined by event partners Casita Verde and Woomoon, along with island locals and activists including Dylan Blue, and several other friends and DJs. As the first beach restaurant in Ibiza to ban disposable plastics, BEACHOUSE will also be involved, and will keep everyone hydrated throughout the clean.
BLOND:ISH will also play the Ibiza Preservation Foundation’s tenth anniversary on22ndAugust, where all proceeds will go towards their constant conservation efforts.
‘Chasing the sun and playing parties in paradise is next level amazing, but we all collectively unconsciously forgot about one important thing in our consumerism-driven society when moving from the city to the sensitive ecosystems of paradise… Single use plastics in our scene are not sustainable anywhere, they are killing the creatures in our oceans and disrupting our planet beyond comprehension. We want to change that and NOW.’
Time & Date:If you’re in Ibiza, come and join BLOND:ISH and friends on 21stAugust. Meet at 18hrs for an 18:30 start.
Meeting Point:BEACHOUSE, Playa d’en Bossa.

Quote from Ben Turner, International Music Summit:
‘International Music Summit is delighted to support the BLOND:ISH Ibiza beach clean. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and this year as a first step we eliminated single use plastic straws at our IMS Dalt Vila event, earning the Oceanic Standards straw-free certification. Our All Access and Delegate Plus bags for IMS Ibiza this year were also made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. We continue to develop ways to implement sustainability on a larger scale and are glad to be able to play our part in this important initiative.’

Their mission is to keep Ibiza’s beaches, coastal areas, countryside and rural roads in a clean and tidy state for everyone to enjoy.Together with local authorities and other eco groups, they organise various beach and road cleaning events throughout the year in different parts of the island, to raise the environmental awareness and give everyone an opportunity to join in the cleaning action.
About Ibiza Preservation Foundation:
Over the past decade, IPF has played a significant part in environmental projects to protect, preserve and restore land and sea, including contributing to preventing four oil and gas projects in the Mediterranean Sea and championing greater protection for Posidonia meadows (a seagrass that is a crucial part of the Mediterranean ecosystem).
