Following the release of latest single ‘Hidden Heart Of Gold’ – and now in the midst of a 15-date Voyage Direct tour across Europe in support of debut label compilation ‘First Mission’ – Tom Trago has lifted the lid on new track ‘Hard Cash’, released as part of Soul Clap’s ‘Tempo Dreams’ Vol.3 compilation for Bastard Jazz.
In stark contrast to the colourful, synth-rich textures on 13-minute roller ‘Hidden Heart Of Gold’, ‘Hard Cash’ sees Trago turn his hand to classic disco-funk. Centered around M Cruzer’s distinctive, Prince-esque vocal, the track bubbles along with plenty of zip and verve, as fuzzy bass licks, soft percussive layers and squeaky, bubblegum synths intertwine to exhibit the diversity of Trago’s sound palette.
