Massachusetts-born Tommy B is a young indie folk-rock finger picker and multi-instrumentalist who has defined himself as straightforward with his story-telling and sonic capabilities. Tommy recently unveiled the music video for his hit single, “2300,” which followed close on the heels of his debut EP titled “B1”, released earlier this year. The six-track-long collection of intimate confessional bangers and hook-heavy songcraft conveys a delightful musical mix of upbeat folk rock, slow-driving ballads, and changing time signatures, which finds inspiration from his own personal experiences. His sound simultaneously showcase his versatility as a vocalist with a wide range that varies from belting to whispering in one song, detailing the impeccable artistry of the musician.
The “2300” music video featuring Tommy B driving and singing around the lanes, ushers the artist into a new sonic era that’s bound to win him massive attention from music buffs worldwide. This success builds upon his long professional entertainment career spanning over a decade, with the prolific artist preparing to expand his horizons.
Speaking about his process and inspiration behind his EP, Tommy said:
“‘B1’ features six songs I wrote between the ages of 17 and 23. Half the EP is about breaking up with different girlfriends in that time period, one is about being passed over for a job opportunity I was passionate about obtaining, and the last song, ‘Aime & Chris,’ was recorded as a live take and is about the duo my father found success in during the 90s called ‘On The Rocks.’ Surviving pre-internet, there’s hardly any evidence of their existence. Other than an old mix tape of theirs, I refer to them as the band that never was. With their great musical works in mind, ‘B1’ was written.”
Born and raised in a small town in Bristol County, Massachusetts, Tommy B had been a lifelong multi-instrumentalist who’s currently performing 100+ shows every year across Pennsylvania and surrounding states in the United States. Before the age of 18, he packed up and moved to Florida to pursue his studies and musical career with better opportunities. Having always battled with stage fright, Tommy B took other musical roles such as drummer, bassist, and more, which allowed him to perform for an audience but do so without the pressure that comes with fronting a band.
After decades of studying the guitar and singing, Tommy B has finally managed to take the center stage with all eyes on him, and he plays songs anywhere from The Everly Brothers and Simon & Garfunkel to Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Tom Petty and more. In his first year as a professional musician, Tommy landed 53 shows with one original song even hitting the HUGS Radio Station at WRGG in Greencastle, PA. His second year saw 103 shows with another original song hitting the airwaves. Now in his third year, he is on track to perform over 130 shows while releasing three albums!
With a yearly schedule of 100+ shows, Tommy has huge ambitions for this year, as he intends to release two more albums in 2023 as follows-ups to his debut EP. He is currently touring the United States and typically performs as a solo act that sounds like a trio, arranging 50’s-present classic rock hits, with a splash of country, pop, and originals on looping 12-string guitars, harmonizing vocals, cajon and percussion. With no song sounding alike, Tommy B has proven he is not just a singer or performer, but a terrific songwriter and all-rounder musician through and through.
