Martin Books - Too Many Doors

Kuukou is the label run by Simina Grigoriu and for the third release it enlists its first guest. That guest is German producer Martin Books who is a really assured producer with a wide remit and plenty of studio chops. As well as the two top cuts he serves up, he gets reworked by Alex Young & Deetech in fine style.

Up first is Too Many Doors, a bulbous, cavernous, warm house track with loopy and pinging kicks and rolling toms. Atmospheric and filled with weird synths it is a great opener. The remix of this one comes from Alex Young & Deetech and is deep and slower affair that really sucks you in. Sweeping filters rasp and dazzle and far off trumpets lure you further in. Classic Mind is the other original and is a tension fuelled white knuckle ride through techno with bobbling synths and fat drums. It’s dark and nervy and really will make for a spooky atmosphere. All in all this EP makes a fine statement.
