Top 100 DJs Party London 2016

The UK’s Top 100 DJs party returns to the O2 Academy Brixton on Saturday 22nd October, presenting the biggest indoor showcase of electronic music in the capital.

Some of the biggest artists in the world will hit the stage at one of London’s premiere venues for a night of explosive dance music. This is one of the most highly anticipated events in the UK’s clubbing calendar and this year is no exception.

The line-up for 2016 includes international Top 100 DJ superstars Armin van Buuren, Gouryella, Markus Schulz, W&W, Marlo, Tenishia, Tom Swoon, and Gavyn Mytchel. They’ll be joined by 4500 clubbers in the Academy’s glorious main room from 9pm until late.

The Top 100 DJs Poll is the most globally representative poll of the world’s most popular DJs with over 1 million unique votes cast in 2016. The voting platform was opened up to more territories, reflecting the new frontiers of international club culture. The app was this year translated into Russian, Chinese (simplified) and Japanese, in addition to seven other global languages. Voters in China were able to use Weibo – China’s biggest social media platform.

In 2015, the Top 100 DJs Poll saw almost one million votes cast from every country on the planet, and Belgian’s Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, become the first duo to win the annual Poll. 2015 saw 21 new entries, 3 re-entries, and 7 non-movers. Oliver Heldens was the Highest House DJ, up 22 places. Diplo moved into the Top 20, and also placed for his Jack U project (with Skrillex).

Drum & bass had two of its leading lights in the Poll last year— Andy C and Netsky. Non-EDM DJs continued to have something of a revival, reflecting the fact that dance music fans from other styles are re-engaging with the Top 100. Disclosure was one of the highest new entries, while techno maestro Richie Hawtin was up 39 places to No.51.  Carl Cox held steady, Umek was up 5 and Flux Pavilion — who produced a humorous campaigning video – was a new entry at No.86.

The Top 100 DJs Foundation (registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce No.61608947) is the official charity partner of Top 100 DJs. The foundation is an integral part of Top 100 DJs, enabling voters to engage in the causes that mean the most to them, and inviting dance music artists, DJs and fans to create a tangible and lasting impact. For 2016, the Top 100 DJs Foundation is working with ‘Mission Live Foundation’ and ‘The Ocean Cleanup’, all those interested must vote to find out how they can get involved.

HISTORY OF THE POLL

The Top 100 DJs Poll is a publicly voted poll that inspires fierce debate across the year with speculation on the world’s No.1 DJ, new entries and biggest climbers dominating online discussion and beyond.

The Top 100 DJs Poll began as an editorial feature in October 1993, to celebrate DJ Mag's 100th issue. It was predominantly UK-based at first, but when the poll was opened up to the international scene via website voting, it truly exploded. There have been a few attempts at imitation, but DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs Poll has remained the definitive list. As well as its significance for individual DJs, the Top 100 DJs Poll also documents the growth – or decline – of dance music scenes, reflecting the ebb and flow of genres as new sounds and scenes take hold and spread.

In 2014, Hardwell was crowned the No.1 DJ for the second consecutive year, toppling five-time No.1, Armin van Buuren. 2011’s winner was David Guetta. Other previous winners include Tiesto (three times), Paul van Dyk (twice), Paul Oakenfold (twice), Carl Cox (twice), Sasha and John Digweed.
