Torio – Call To You (Lakeshore Remix)

Chicago’s local modern dance music hero Torio left 2014 behind with one of his trademark vocal anthems ‘Call To You’ which took his series of releases with Black Hole Recordings/Manufactured Music to new heights. Flash forward to April 2015 and that distinctive production and vocal is back with a new twist from Lakeshore. Sticking with the euphoric vibe of the original – this deeper rework devises a brain-tingling flurry of lush chords, beautiful elasticated bass synths and sub-tingling flutters of ultra low end content. Staying more than true to the original – this new reprise cascades through the frequency scale with a delicate precision and gorgeously pristine production ethics. The kicks are perfectly round and are supremely compressed to recoil without ever sounding brash and the sporadic percussion lights up the higher mids with sumptuous reverb spills and haunting reverse fills from the vocal. The finishing touches and attention to transitions in the arrangement make for a highly-pleasurable listen and ensures that Lakeshore is a talent to be added onto our radars.

With the original peaking at #24 on Beatport’s notoriously tough to crack Progressive House Chart – Torio once again proved why he’s one of the most exciting emerging talents on the global electronic dance music circuit. This new revision gives a breath of fresh air to a single that was without a doubt one of the most impressive vocal tracks of the winter. Torio’s songwriting skills are among the strongest we’ve heard in a long time and Lakeshore’s gorgeous take on his work makes this a viable single in its own right. Few tracks manage to effectively bridge the gap between big room formats and deeper shades of House – but this rework is one of the few that effortlessly makes the connection. Manufactured Music once again show us why they’re leading the way for new international electronic music talent.
