Diego Gamez is a Venezuelan producer, living in Barcelona, Spain, who has previously been featured on big man Jus-Ed’s Underground Quality label. He now proudly presents his own personal imprint, Deependance Music (distributed by Jus Ed’s UQ), a label focused on presenting his deeper and more emotional cuts. The mood for this first EP is similar to his last release “The Game’z EP”, but there’s something more organic about these tracks. It feels like Diego has added a slightly darker edge to his sound design, walking the line between Chicago and Detroit’s deeper sounds. “No Depen-dance”, for instance, is a profound and dubby house tune endowed with an interstellar sensibility, with intensity as its key word, and the same goes for “Traveling Through Phases”, a beautifully spaced jam full of funky twists. Over on the flip, “New Horizon” is bumpier but nonetheless retains a cinematic and atmospheric vibe, and “Psych” squelches and morphs its way across desolate and starry landscapes with a more latin and jazzy touch. Deeper than deep space.
