Ellum Audio welcome the increasingly prominent John Monkman for a fantastic two track EP that highlights why he is so in demand.
UK artist Monkman has been in the game a decade, clocking up hits in Ibiza and on Beatport while linking with key contemporary labels like Kompakt, Last Night On Earth and Anjunadeep. Next to huge Radio 1 support and plays from DJs like Skream and Pete Tong, Monkman has a colourful, star-gazing style, blending a hybrid of melodic house and techno sounds for the main room.
First up is ‘Tune In Turn On,’ a hugely detailed track with well programmed drums, layers of sci-fi synths, whispered vocal musings and a sense of intergalactic space travel that leaves you utterly captivated. It is future music with its own sense of colour and it makes a truly lasting impact.
The excellent ‘Enhancer’ is a beautiful track with soft synths darting about high in the sky like a neon aurora borealis. Brooding bass way down low adds a true sense of scale and meandering lead synths carry you away on a real musical trip.
These are two masterfully melodic, cinematic dancefloor tracks that are filled with adventure.
