Farmopolis teams up with our favourite labels Tru Thoughts, Soundway and Wah Wah 45’s to host a monthly residency on Sunday’s spinning tunes from lunch to sunset on the jetty. Suren Seneviratne A.K.A. My Panda Shall Fly was born in Sri Lanka before settling in London, first caught the attention of the music world with a remix that featured on Pitchfork back in 2010. Since then, he has released a plethora of diverse records, gaining support from Clash, The Fader, Mixmag and Dazed. He has remixed The Weeknd & Little Boots and has appeared at festivals like BBC Hackney Weekender, Outlook & Glade. This Sunday Dubplate Session in the Farmopolis Garden sees Suren take us on an ambient journey, offering an insight into his more compositional work. Come savour the last rays of summer for a sunset session on the jetty.

Sunday Soul Food Sessions: Dom Sevrini Wah Wah 45’s (Dj Set)

Wah Wah 45's head honcho Dom Sevrini has been filling dance floors since the early 1990s with his beautifully blended, open minded mix of music steeped in soul, jazz and funk. From the early days of his Brighton residency with DJ Snowboy, his infamous late 90s Mouseorgan club events, to a decade and a half DJing under the Wah Wah 45s banner, Dom has become something of a clubbing institution. Also a successful radio DJ and music journalist, Dom’s sets are best extended and forward thinking, taking in hip hop, latin, electronica, house, jungle, disco, jazz and everything in between. The last couple of decades have seen Dom DJ as far afield as Canada, Japan and much of Eastern Europe, as well as being a festival favourite whilst still making time to play his London residences, such as his hugely popular monthly sessions at The Big Chill Bar and various Wah Wah events.

Children’s author and performer Bernadette Russell has written some stories especially for Farmopolis- come and find out all about the animals that live with us in London and make something to wear to the Animal Ball. You will hear about how squirrels can time travel and why rats live mostly underground, plus you’ll hear a song from the pigeon choir and learn to dance the Fox Trot.

Join award-winning documentary photographer Mark Wilkinson for an engaging, fun and practical two hour workshop designed to demystify your basic DSLR camera settings whilst exploring techniques for creative photography. Using Farmopolis’ unique venue and it’s surroundings as your muse, you will learn compositional tips to produce more visually engaging photographs, how to best capture light photographing still life subjects, as well as exploring how to produce eye catching urban landscapes. Jewellery Making Workshop: Ring Design

Jewellery designer Emma Aitchison will guide you through creating your own unique piece of jewellery in this two hour workshop. You’ll start by sketching your ring design, learn how to size your ring to fit, and then using jeweller’s wax you will sculpt and carve your design. By the end of the workshop each participant will have learned some of the fundamental skills of jewellery design, and created a one-of-a-kind ring in wax, which can then be cast in a variety of different metals and finishes. The workshop itself is priced at £25 per person, and for an additional fee Emma will cast your ring and have it delivered to your home. Prices for casting vary depending on the metal and finish, but a simple silver ring will cost an additional £25. Create your own artisan tile designs using the cyanotype printing technique in this three hour workshop with artist and maker Lola Lely. Cyanotype printing is a photographic technique that produces a distinctive cyan-blue print. Each participant will take home artisan three tiles, which make fantastic feature pieces in any kitchen or bathroom, or act as a beautiful stand-alone decoration piece. Heather Thomas and Marian Reed are the women behind The Mindful Kitchen – a project to educate us all on the impact our daily eating habits have on the environment, whilst teaching us how to make delicious, and sustainable, recipes!
