Berlin brothers TWO LANES, who have amassed over 300 million streams on Spotify alone and been championed by the likes of BBC Radio 1, SiriusXM, and Triple J, release their latest EP Innervision, featuring ‘Balance’, ‘Mind’, and new singles ‘Abstraction’ and ‘Synthesis’.
Warm, sumptuous, languid piano chords sweep through opener ‘Abstraction’, a beautifully melancholic piece that indulges the listener in an immersive, laidback world of instrumental energy. The only track to feature a vocal line, ‘Mind’ eases in with soft pads and ethereal synths that wouldn’t seem out of place on a Digweed-Sasha Northern Exposure compilation. Progressively building bit by bit with almost instinctual energy, the cut also finds itself leaning into soft trance, making it absolutely on trend for current playlists.
‘Balance’ is a masterpiece in controlled understatement, a perfect showcase of the pair’s blend of classical and electronic training. Delicate piano, easy percussion, and softly undulating, sighing synths, the overriding feeling is one of meditative drifting, allowing the world to drop away from around you as beautiful music quite simply washes over you. Closing out, the second of the new additions, ‘Synthesis’. Picking up where ‘Balance’ left off, the single ups the ante slightly in terms of energy but carries on with the EP’s overall DNA, deftly wound lines of composition weaving tightly together to round off the EP as an entire body of work.
For years now TWO LANES have repeatedly shown why they enjoy such a consistent level of success at the top of their game. Unsurprisingly their ‘Innervision’ EP will only strengthen that reputation.
