Global beauty tools brand Urban Beauty United (UBU) is putting the spotlight firmly on female DJs with the launch of ‘All Girls On Decks’ a national competition to find the most talented female DJs in the UK.
UBU is delighted to announce the affiliation with ambassador DJ Lisa Lashes. With her career spanning well over a decade, and still championing the accolade of the only female artist credited in the Top 10 DJ’s in the World, at No.9 by DJ Magazines Top 100 DJ poll.
Encouraging more females into the music business is something Lisa feels very passionate about, as the music industry is still very male-dominated, and this may discourage some great talent to not choose a career in the industry, which Lisa has personally been made aware of time and time again. Lisa says, “I’m unbelievably excited to be involved with the ‘All Girls On Decks’ Campaign, actively building a platform to help talented females get the break they deserve” “Our aim is to pass on our experience to aspiring musicians, helping give them the knowledge, tools and encouragement to go ahead and follow their dreams”
The competition launches on Monday 6th October 2014 at www.urbanbeautyunited.co.uk. Budding DJs from the age of 16 and above will have the opportunity to submit a 20 – 60 minute mix via Facebook > http://bit.ly/1yFGI6Q creating their own interpretation of Urban Beauty, with their own style of music whatever the genre. Whether you’re a beginner, hold a local residency, or have prior experience in the music industry, we just ask that you’re not a full-time professional DJ to make the competition fair.
The 5 uploaded mixes with the most votes will enter into a secondary live phase, and will be judged recording a mix in the studio judged personally by Lisa Lashes who will then pick the overall winner.
The overall winner will receive a MacBook Air, UBUcustomed Vestax VCi-380 Performance Controller with Serrato, Vestax HMX-05 Headphones, Studio tutorial software from Musicology, a designer outfit tailored by Lisa’s personal stylist Jabio, a year’s supply of UBU Beauty Tools and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity playing alongside Lisa
