UMEK collaborates with Harry Romero on new release ‘I Just Can’t Believe’

UMEK is back on his record label 1605 with a two-track peak time techno release that also features a collaboration with house music legend, Harry Romero aka Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero.

2023 is the year UMEK is celebrating three decades in the music industry and he continues his illustrious career with this explosive release. Along with his many top-selling tracks on 1605, UMEK has also contributed to other scene-leading record labels ranging from Filth On Acid to Suara.

Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero is an American artist from New York who in recent times has simplified his production name to Harry Romero, and is well-known for his works on iconic record labels such as Defected, Classic Records and Crosstown Rebels. He has also released techno tracks on Christian Smith’s Tronic.

This release features a solo original by UMEK along with the Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero collaboration titled “I Just Can’t Believe”.

I Just Can’t Believe orientates around a vocal sample from Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero’s classic 2001 anthem, “I Want Out (I Can’t Believe)“. UMEK has taken the iconic vocal and built a whole new backing track which focuses on driving techno percussion and a pulsating bassline. Its raised tempo and the dramatic stabs of the lead synth transform the track from house to techno and present the timeless vocal to a whole new generation of clubbers.

Moving Synthetics” is the solo production by UMEK and it’s a fast and furious track with high-paced rhythms and a brooding atmosphere. Its breakbeat breakdown compliments the speaker shuddering synth lines that swell with sub-bass and are cut by filter sweeps.
