Mid March will see New York’s Jesse Calosso & Jean Pierre join forces for their ‘Under The Covers’ EP, backed with a remix from Joey Daniel and AJ Christou.
Hailing from the Bronx and Queens, New York respectively, Jesse Calosso and Jean Pierre have been raised on the sounds of the New York underground club scene alongside luminaries the Martinez Brothers who have gone on to welcome them onto their Cuttin Headz imprint. Here though we see the pair joining the roster of Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom imprint, following releases from Lee Curtiss and Kate Simko over the past year.
Title track ‘Under The Covers’ leads, a typically up-tempo energy drive grovoe from Calosso and Pierre laid out over seven minutes with rolling organic percussion, modulating vocal flutters and pulsing subs before Joey Daniel and AJ Christou rework the original into a more straight laced 4/4 groove via choppy bass hits, swinging snares and cuts of the original vocals throughout.
‘3:00AM Stories’ follows, introducing frenzied 303 lines and bulbous low end tones alongside shuffled drums and various spoken world vocals before ‘In My Room’ closes the release with sweeping filtered atmospherics, skippy hi-hats, acid bass tones and hooky, diva style vocal licks.
Jesse Calosso & Jean Pierre’s ‘Under The Covers’ EP is out on Leftroom 16th March 2018.
