If he’s not already on your radar, Unlighted is certainly one to watch. One of the most exciting up-and-coming talents to emerge onto the South American Techno scene over the past few years, the prolific Buenos Aires-born producer has been turning heads of late, following a string of well received releases on the likes of Set About, Hypnostate, Legend, Phobos and Alula Tunes, to name just a few.
Now, as Unlighted looks to add another impressive string to his ever-illustrious bow, the talented, in-demand producer makes his eagerly anticipated debut on POPOF’s FORM Music with his emphatic two-part Dystopic EP.
Out now, the huge double-sided cut kicks off with the title track Dystopic, an intense peak-time ride that blends throbbing rhythm-led composition with ethereal, drawn-out breakdowns. Industrial synth stabs and samples enter the mix from all directions, blurring the line between percussion and melody as the track’s propulsive drums drive it forward.
Closing out his FORM Music debut in style, the flip sees the introduction of Like That, another heavy, rolling, techno groover whose simple yet effective structure draws you in from the very first beat; its long build-up and unmistakable spoken word vocal sample making this a perfect energy-builder.
