Dept. drops a pair of subterranean house tracks from Finland’s Denzel and Bravik plus a remix from fellow countryman Satoi as well as Brooklyn’s legendary Fred P.
Based in Helsinki, the newly launched Dept. imprint is designed to promote Nordic electronic music whilst pioneering its local talent, with the label’s debut release does exactly that by featuring Finnish talents Denzel, Bravik and Satoi whilst also calling upon one of house music’s most iconic purveyors of deep – Fred P.
Denzel’s ‘About Greatness’ combines classic house vibes with a modern approach whilst utilising a rich palette of rhythms, pads and a monologue to guide the listener throughout the track. Satoi’s remix then twists the original into techno domains by demonstrating a more straightforward and darker yet melodic vibe.
In contrast Bravik’s ‘130314’ is a summery and monotonic up-tempo stomper that contains a refined contrast between the distorted rhythms, sub bass and synth stabs. Finally Fred P’s sees the New Yorker take the track down a completely new path by tweaking the original elements into an unrecognisable state, generating an atmospheric and funk inspired house number.
Denzel & Bravik ‘VA1’ (inc. Fred P & Satoi remixes) drops on Dept. on 7th September 2015.
