Lemy Leopard & Simbad join forces to generate an emotive house release for Leicester-based imprint City Fly.
With original material spanning the likes of Lady Blacktronika, Basic Soul Unit, Kez YM, Flori and Ugly Drums, not to mention remixes from Fred P, Andres, Medlar and DJ Nature, it’s safe to say that City Fly is one of Britain’s finest exponents of quality deep house today. Joining the label, Parisian producer and Qalomota Records regular Lemy Leopard pairs up with Flying Lotus and Gilles Peterson favourite Simbad (who appeared on City Fly last year) for a very promising outing.
‘Vibin’ is an upfront slice of deep house, combining soulful coos with a spoken word sample as crunchy snares join funky bass licks. Meanwhile, it’s easy to hear how ‘Cosmic Energie’ earned its title as it impliments interstellar synths and ebbing pads to form an uplifting gem.
