Walker & Royce – My Dream

One of the many hot talents being nurtured by the Moda Black stable are New York pair Walker & Royce. They have been making waves since arriving on the scene in 2011, releasing a string of stellar singles through labels like Crosstown Rebels, Pets Recordings and of course Moda Black. Their previous release for the label, ‘Sister’ was made essential new tune by Pete Tong as well as receiving support from the likes of Catz N Dogz & Eats Everything and this latest offering looks set to do just as much damage. The duo are also due to appear on the Moda Black events at Fabric and the much hyped Lost Village festival.

Opener ‘My Dream’ is a kinetic jam with rubbery bass, squelchy synths and chopped vocals. Bursting with colour and with plenty happening throughout, this is the sort of slick tech offering that really energises dance floors with its left of centre samples and restless sense of electronic funk.

Then comes ‘Fur,’ which is a spritely fusion of diving neon synths, dancing drums and whirring machines all made essentially human with a female vocal cry. The bass and drums are rich, bulbous things that cannot fail to make you move. The vocal is crisp and adds a sense of unhinged fun and the overall vibe is refreshingly original and future sounding.

Already adored across both sides of the Atlantic, Walker & Royce once again exceed expectation with this inventive new EP.
