To celebrate the 50th release on his renowned Keno Records, David Keno teams up with Berlin-based production outfit Dalson on We Got Our Own: two slamming dancefloor cuts that continue the label’s seemingly effortless run of form.
For more than a decade, David Keno has been one of the most consistently intriguing names in electronic music production, while his label Keno Records – established back in 2007 – has served up a constant stream of quality house and techno both from Keno himself and other boundary-pushing producers. ‘
We Got Our Own’ alongside Dalson marks Keno Records 50th, and is fittingly impressive for this landmark release.
Dalson is a recent collaboration between Berlin-based producers Flo Dalinger and Jimmy Lesson. After more than five years as solo artists they decided to create Dalson after long studio sessions with their music landing somewhere between house and techno: deep and funky, but with a firm focus on the dancefloor.
‘We Got Our Own’ is a dark, brooding slice of tech house, with a hypnotic synth loop and spoken-word vocal sample perfectly complimented by hard-hitting drums and scything percussion. ‘Dynamite’ meanwhile is a funk-heavy gem interspersed with newsreel samples about the Godfather of Soul James Brown, and boasts a heavily swung groove that is nigh-on impossible to resist.
