Norwegian music sensation Whammyboy has been making waves in the music scene, captivating audiences with his catchy singles “Ocean“, “Heart” and “Goosebumps” Hailing from Norway, Whammyboy’s talent has transcended borders, gaining recognition in the UK with his track “Heart” being Tune of the Week on Jack Saunders’ BBC Radio 1 Future Artists show. With a growing list of accomplishments, Whammyboy is gearing up for an exciting EU and UK tour in the autumn, following the release of his much-anticipated fourth single, “Chop It” accompanied by a mesmerizing music video.
Whammyboy’s music boasts a distinct 21st-century flair, characterized by crisp production and a modern sheen. However, beneath the contemporary beats lies a touch of nostalgia and yearning, reminiscent of artists such as Eiffel 65, Alice Deejay, and Tiesto, who influenced Whammyboy during his formative years. Drawing inspiration from the music his parents played while he was growing up in the 80s, Whammyboy’s singles are infused with a delightful blend of modern and retro elements.
August 4th marks the release of Whammyboy’s fourth single, “Chop It” a space-infused Pop-Bop masterpiece. The track’s name stems from Whammyboy’s technical approach, which was inspired by Daft Punk’s production techniques. However, as he delved deeper, the song evolved, incorporating elements of offbeat bass reminiscent of his childhood favorites.
Whammyboy’s infectious energy isn’t limited to studio recordings. The artist has been captivating live audiences across Europe, with performances at notable events such as Piknik i Parken in Oslo and upcoming appearances at Pstereo and Reeperbahn Festivals in August and September. With his EU and UK tour on the horizon, Whammyboy is set to bring his electrifying and ecstatic live show to even more music enthusiasts.
The anticipation for Whammyboy’s debut EP, “Space Pop Vol 1”, is building as its release date draws near. Scheduled for September 8th, the EP promises a collection of Space Pop gems that will leave listeners yearning for more.
