Where’s The Music welcome Red Bull Music Academy

With only 20 days left until the first ever event, Where’s the music is almost here and we are proud to share new and exciting additions to the conference that will take place during three eventful days in Norrköping, Sweden. One of which is Helen McLaughlin who was recently appointed to be one of Sweden’s 30 most influential women in the music business, a list put together by musikindustrin.se

Expanded conference program
On Friday delegates will be able to take part in the panel debate “Analysing The Swedish Music Industry”. Here we will look at the facts and figures of Sweden’s export success over the years and take a closer look at the history of Sweden as one of the major exporting countries in the world, then, now and in the future. Now that Sweden finally has its own international showcase festival and music conference the question is how will the Swedish music industry use and support it and how can this platform open up the Swedish market? Who was and is instrumental for Sweden’s success and how do we keep or even improve this position in the fast changing landscape of today’s music industry?

Festivals flourish like never before, but one of the big festival issues is the lack of headliners. This is not a new thing, but with the increase of festivals and the decrease of headliners the fight is on and the problem obvious. How will our industry deal with this development, what are the adjustments needed and what will that mean for the audiences? Listen in on “Festivals – the battle for headliners”, where experts in the area discuss the issue at hand.

What are the similarities & differences between the different creative industries? Television, film and music industries are constantly changing due to technical advances. In this panel we will discuss if the major companies like Universal, Sony, Google, YouTube and Apple will embrace subscription services that have become increasingly common in the television and film industry. Will they create their own services just like HBO and Netflix with exclusive material? What is the role of semi legal newbies such as Popcorn Time?

During the conversation at Where’s the Music? we will talk about the early years in the duo “Closer Musik”, his own record label Comeme and his love for singing amongst other things.

Red Bull Music Academy presents: Studio Barnhus Studio Barnhus is many things – a dj trio, a record label, a studio on Barnhusgatan (”Orphanage Street”) in Stockholm, a big blob of colour splashed right onto the gray scales of modern dance music. Basically, it’s what happens when Axel Boman, Petter Nordkvist and Kornél Kovács get together and do stuff. Since 2010 over 30 records, produced by the founding members as well as their Swedish and international friends, have made it out of the Barnhusgatan basement. The dj trio keeps touring the world, pushing a particularly exciting take on modern dance music – eclectic, informed, seriously fun and utterly danceable.
