The German two-man-machine that is Pan-Pot take a breather from their imprint, Second State Audio and apply their slick dancefloor science to Nicole Moudaber’s label MOOD Records with their two track ‘Win Some’ EP out now on Beatport. While the titles might enjoy a light-hearted play on words, the sounds themselves are straight-up peak time, no-mess techno constructions.
“Win Some” is the ultimate DJ jewel; lacing clever layers of percussion and a pneumatic sub/kick relationship, that just rolls and rolls into infinity with heads-down energy and a dynamic that’s ideal for deep mix blends. “Lose Some” plays the perfect foil as it chats with a slightly housier sonic syntax before going absolutely loco midway with a paranoid synth scribble that disappears as quickly as it flashes into the mix, creating that trippy blink-and-miss sensation that electrify the best sets when precision dropped.
Win some, lose some…The perfect techno yin and yang, the ultimate balance of shades and, just maybe, an allegory for life itself: Everything goes up and down, our experience on this planet is in a constant state of flux. Be sure to dig deep and reflect life’s rich balance with these two on-point MOOD Records released gems.
Often complementing one another, Pan-Pot’s ability to fill each other’s void in both the studio and DJ booth has allowed them to become regulars on lineups for world-renowned events such as Awakenings, Time Warp, Sonus Festival as well as consecutive residencies for HYTE at the world-famous Ibiza nightclub Amnesia. With a career spanning more than a decade, the heavy-hitting German duo consisting of Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix, aim to take on the summer season with their first release on MOOD Records stocked in their musical arsenal.
Pan-Pot’s ‘Win Some’ EP is available via MOOD Records exclusively on Beatport.
