Wippenberg Reignites the Dance Floor with The Path (Get Up Dance)

Few artists have left a lasting mark on club culture quite like Wippenberg. With seminal releases such as Neurodancer, Chakalaka and Pong, his sound helped define an era while continuing to influence today’s dance floors. Now, Wippenberg is entering a new phase with a refreshed, high-energy sound rooted in modern hard house and trance. Ahead of the release of “The Path (Get Up Dance)”, out January 30 on his own label Get Wipped, we caught up with him to talk about legacy, evolution, and where this new chapter is heading.

You’ve created some iconic tracks like Neurodancer, Chakalaka and Pong. How do you look back to these classic releases now?

I look back on those releases with a lot of respect, because they captured a very specific moment in club culture and in my own development as a DJ and producer. I still regularly receive requests from other artists who want to remix these tracks. At the same time, I’m currently working on a 2026 version of ‘Neurodancer’ with Marlon Hoffstadt, and I’m honored that a 30-year-old track can still feel relevant today.

After time away from the spotlight, you’re now returning with a completely refreshed sound. What triggered this new chapter for Wippenberg?

Today’s dance floors have a raw, warehouse and rave energy that takes me back to my beginnings. But this new chapter isn’t about nostalgia – it’s about shaping a sound that feels modern, powerful, and relevant for today.

Your current productions lean strongly into the new hard house and modern trance movement. How would you describe this sound and its place in 2026 and beyond?

It kind of takes elements from the past, but reshapes them into something that sounds new. It’s fast and raw but can be emotional at the same time – made for warehouses, raves and high-energy dance floors. For me, it’s not about revival or nostalgia, but about translating that classic rave spirit into a sound that feels like now.

You’ve been receiving support from artists such as Pegassi, Benwal and Odymel. What does that support mean to you at this stage of your career?

I really appreciate that support, especially from artists who are defining the sound of the moment. It shows that what I’m doing resonates in the current scene, not as a reference to the past, but as something that feels relevant today.

Your upcoming release on January 30 marks your rework of the legendary track The Path. What drew you to reinterpret this particular record?

‘The Path’ is based on a melody that almost everyone recognizes instantly. The idea was simply to place something so familiar into a modern hard house context, creating a combination that feels new and made for today’s dance floors.

This new release will be out on your own label, Get Wipped. What are your plans with the label looking into the future?

For now, the label is mainly a platform for my own releases, giving me full creative freedom. But in the future, I can definitely see it becoming a home for other artists as well.

How do you balance honoring trance history while pushing the sound forward for future dance floors?

I build for where clubs and raves are going, not where they’ve been. The sound is about energy, tension and impact on the dance floor. Anything that comes through from earlier styles is there because it still works – not because I’m looking back.

Looking ahead, what can fans and DJs expect next from Wippenberg in this new era?

You can expect a lot more high-energy club music – made for dance floors, and I’ll also be back on the road.

With “The Path (Get Up Dance)”, Wippenberg makes it clear that this return is about momentum, not nostalgia. Drawing on decades of experience while fully embracing the energy of today’s rave culture, he continues to push forward with a sound built for modern dance floors. As this new era unfolds, one thing is certain: Wippenberg’s path is once again firmly pointed toward the club.
