Alex O'Rion - Wisteria

Full of Christmas cheer and New Year’s buzz, Sudbeat return on 8th January with a stunning debut three tracker from Black Hole and ICONYC regular, Alex O’Rion.

Cutting his teeth in the trance scene has given Alex an edge. Now a regular on top labels such as the Mango Alley and Nueva and more Alex once more flexes his considerable musical muscles across three superb pieces of music.

Cleverly arranged tribal drums marks opener Wisteria out before the melodic elements drive the track ever forwards. The main break serves as a brief respite before warped synth madness draw us back under its spell.

According to Greek mythology the Sirenum Scopuli were a small group of rocky islands (possibly off the southern coasts of modern day Capri) were the Sirens, a group of alluring seductresses, would lull unwitting sailors to their deaths. Suitably, the track features all manner of seductiveness including a super funky bass line and rhodsey keys.

Closing out the EP is Muriwai, by far the most bass-led of the trio. As with all the tracks, the percussive arrangement is stripped back to just whats needed leaving the synth elements to form the drive of the track. Here, a keyed lead line pays homage to Alex’s trance roots subtly marrying the two genres in symbiotic unity.
