Yonathan Zvi – Feels Good

Released this week after a pre-release hype – ‘Feels Good EP’ is the latest effort from Dutch powerhouse Yonathan Zvi. A two-track project, this EP is right on track to continue Yonathan Zvi’s rise to the top of the electronic music food chain. As one of the more popular Laidback Luke understudies, he has already seen his music released on some of the world’s leading labels including: Perfecto Records, In Charge Recordings, Mixmash Records, Vicious Recordings, Central Station Recordings, Luxor Music, Peak Hour Music, and Pop Rox Music amongst others. Rising to notoriety in 2013 with his ‘Evolution EP’, Yonathan Zvi has managed to reach as high as #5 in the DMC World Magazine ‘Buzz Chart’ and #54 on Beatport’s ‘Progressive House Chart’. Apart from gaining the support of his teacher Laidback Luke, the Breda-based DJ and producer has also been on the radar of elite DJs such as: Tiesto, Hardwell, David Guetta, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Antoine Clamaran, Tritonal, JES, Marco V, and Nari & Milani amongst numerous other leading lights.

Yonathan Zvi’s freshest EP kicks off with its lead single, ‘Feels Good’. Immediately starting with an infectious laid-back synth melody and introducing a hearty four-to-the-floor kick drum, the track quickly ascends into a hyperactive party-generator. Led by a distorted, rhythmic synth melody, deep basses and a complex drum rhythm featuring off-beat snare snippets, the single heads towards a slope. Yonathan Zvi unleashes a hyperactive build-up, using a colossal, hard synth melody and a subtle, dreamy counter-responding synth to then give way to the phasing siren FX. This distinctive effect directs the track back to its thumping main section, before Yanathan Zvi offers a filtered, stripped-back version of it to close off the production.

The second track on the EP, ‘Caliber’ is a joint effort between Yonathan Zvi and his understudy, fellow Dutch DJ and producer Patrick Paul. An everyday name amongst Netherlands’ club scene, Patrick Paul unites his talents and mad skills to those of Yonathan Zvi to come up with an innovative, fresh sounding Progressive House infused track. Instantly proving a hard-feel with a chunky drum pattern, the single quickly ascends into a smooth, pitch-bending melody. The Dutch duo then morph the track into an immense, sub by tune, later featuring half-time, Dubstep inspired rhythms, taking the production to a whole other dimension. Devising another energy-level drop, Yonathan Zvi and Patrick Paul re-propose the initial melody accompanied by a cut-time drum pattern, giving a different vision to the original segments. From there, the single takes a one-way path with continuous, smartly created euphoria-generating patterns until it delivers a milder conclusion.

‘Feels Good EP’ is being released by Danish independent electronic music label Reepublic Records. A versatile label, whose aim is to discover the best up-and-coming talents from around the world, Reepublic Records is surely pleased to announce this EP and add it to its growing multi-genre catalogue. Through ‘Feel Good EP’ Yonathan Zvi is truly reconfirming his esteemed reputation, dishing out yet another of his signature, high-quality productions, starting off 2015 in style.
