Interview with Zoe Reijue: new track “Cheap Boy” – a fresh perspective on gender stereotypes in music

  • Hi, Zoe! Congratulations on your new single “Cheap Boy.” What inspired you to create this track?
Thank you! The idea for the track came from observing how society often focuses on criticizing women, attaching labels, and setting unrealistic expectations. I thought—why not offer a new perspective and show that stereotypes apply to everyone? That’s how the term “Cheap Boy” was born—it’s a kind of challenge to the traditional perception of male roles. I wanted to create a track with a strong sound and, at the same time, spark deeper discussions.
  • What is the main message you want to convey through “Cheap Boy”?
The track speaks about thoughtless behavior, irresponsibility, and double standards that are often attributed only to women but, in reality, apply to everyone. I wanted to highlight that no one is immune to unconscious or careless actions. “Cheap Boy” is, above all, a provocation and an opportunity to rethink common perceptions.
  • How does the track’s sound reflect its concept?
I chose an energetic and slightly edgy sound, combining deep grooves with atmospheric elements. The track balances between melancholy and confidence, which, in my opinion, perfectly conveys the complexity of the topic. The powerful bass and vocal elements give it character, while the rhythm adds a sense of movement and change.
  • Do you believe music can change society’s perceptions?
Absolutely! Music is a universal language that easily reaches people’s minds and can inspire reflection. I believe art has the power to gently push for change, encouraging people to rethink the familiar and find new meanings in unexpected places.
  • What kind of reactions do you expect from “Cheap Boy”?
I’m curious to see how people interpret it. Some may see it as lighthearted and ironic, while others might take it more seriously—as an opportunity to reflect on social norms. In any case, I hope the track will spark conversations and help break down some stereotypes.
  • What can we expect from you in the near future?
I have several new releases and collaborations lined up where I’ll continue exploring topics that are important to me. I’m also planning a few live performances to connect with my audience and share my music in a more personal way.
  • Where can people listen to “Cheap Boy” and follow your updates?
The track will be available on all streaming platforms—Spotify, Apple Music, Beatport, and more. You can follow my journey on Instagram and other social media platforms, where I share insights into my creative process and thoughts.
  • What would you like to say to your listeners?
Don’t be afraid to challenge reality and see the world from different angles. Music is not just about rhythms and melodies; it’s a way to express ideas and emotions. Thank you for being part of this journey with me!
