British bass maestro Zomboy joins forces with the vocalist Micah Martin of The Zealots band for their powerful new single “Monsters,” delivering an unexpected and unique sonic experience that’s about to be the soundtrack to everything from your workouts to your next headbanging session. The head of Rott N’ Roll Records artfully fuses angsty vocals that bring to mind hardcore rock of the early aughts with drum & bass production, complete with rapid-fire breakbeats, dark synths, and distorted basslines. The overall effect is an energetic, cathartically aggressive record that brings the listeners’ inner “Monsters” to the surface to be slayed and will appeal to fans of heavy metal, bass music, and beyond as a track that is truly unbound by any genre. It also serves as a follow-up to Zomboy‘s “Dead Man Walking Pt. 1” EP and his earlier collaboration with Micah – “Flatlined,” both from 2022. Read on for the artist’s inspiration behind “Monsters,” which represents Zomboy‘s sonic exploration and sets the tone for future experimentation with bass music.
“I am beyond excited to put ‘Monsters‘ out into the world along with my amazingly talented friend Micah Martin. Not only has this song been absolutely destroying the dance floor, but it will forever symbolize a very difficult yet positive part of my life. Everyone deals with their ups and downs in different ways, and I am just so glad I could call on Micah to help me vocalize these feelings and emotions. I really hope everyone enjoys my first real step into drum & bass, something I’ve wanted to do for a long, long time.” – Zomboy
Zomboy
Zomboy, originally from a small village in England, transitioned from drumming in rock and metal bands to pioneering in the electronic music scene. A car accident settlement funded his home studio, leading to his role as an engineer for numerous bands and his intensive music studies at the ACM in London. His talent was recognized by SKisM, the founder of Never Say Die Records after Zomboy uploaded two demo tracks to SoundCloud on a whim. Rapidly, he graced stages from London‘s Ministry Of Sound to EDC Las Vegas and saw his tracks like “Terror Squad” (2013) and “Like A Bitch” (2016) gain massive acclaim. With 750M streams and multiple placements in the Beatport Top 100, Zomboy is praised for his “cinematic violence” and meticulous approach to music. In 2022, he launched Rott N’ Roll Records, underscoring his significant industry influence. From his modest beginnings to leading the dubstep scene, Zomboy is both a dedicated artist and a relentless innovator.
Micah Martin
Micah Martin was born June 27, 1992, in the Quad Cities. Growing up, he always knew that he wanted to entertain/perform in front of the masses. This would later come to fruition, as he would go on to perform his music in front of sold-out crowds at The Hollywood Palladium, Red Rocks, Spring Awakening, and Lost Lands, to name a few. If he’s not busy writing rock’n’roll anthems with his band – The Zealots, you can find him crafting up his own style of alternative pop in his studio. You might recognize his voice if you play Fortnite or Rocket League, as his songs are in frequent rotation within those games. In 2020, Martin got his first cut with Don Diablo, Imanbek, and Trevor Daniel. This song is called “Kill Me Better,” and it has gotten international radio play all over the world. Travis Barker would later remix “Kill Me Better” and add his own alternative flare to the song. Micah has also worked with some of the biggest names in dance music, such as Jauz, Kayzo, SLANDER, Brooks, Rebelion, Dirty Palm, Bear Grillz, Black Tiger Sex Machine, William Black, Fairlane, Crystal Skies, Ghastly, Frank Zummo, PhaseOne, and more. In 2022 Martin completed his debut album with Executive Producer Felmax.
