Ableton Announces First Names for Loop Summit 2017

Revealed names include Jlin, Machinedrum, The Nile Project, Susan Rogers, William Basinski and tech trailblazers Teenage Engineering.

Ahead of the full program announcement at the end of July, Ableton reveals a handful of names that begin to give shape to its three-day music summit for producers, thinkers, educators and creative technologists.

Names include genre bending producer of the moment, Jlin, tape-destroying ambient hero William Basinski and New York clubbing collective Discwoman.

Keynote talks for Loop's third edition come from Berklee professor and Prince's audio engineer Susan Rogers. Attendees will also have the opportunity to join studio sessions with Mandy Parnell, celebrated mastering engineer trusted by the likes of The XX, Aphex Twin, Bjork and Brian Eno. Renowned electronic music producer, Machinedrum, will also be hosting studio sessions and discussing his creative process.

Expanding its territorial remit, Loop has reached out to African music and sustainability coalition The Nile Project, the first name to give shape to plans to include creative voices from around the world in its program of discussion about the current nature and future needs of music making.

First technology partners come in the shape of LEAF Audio and Swedish innovators Teenage Engineering. And participants will once again be offered a comprehensive evening program, with iconic Berlin clubbing institution Tresor recently announced as a venue set to host a diverse program of musical talent drawn from Loop's daytime activities.

Many more names are soon to be announced alongside topics for talks, panels, workshops and performances expected at the end of July.
