During his 20-year career Atjazz has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, including the likes of Nitin Sawhney, Bob Sinclar, Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova, Karizma, Osunlade and Omar. His distinctive sound and experimental approach to electronic music via his Atjazz Record Company imprint has ensured he remains in high demand around the world both as a producer and remixer, as well as a floor-filling DJ. The new release on Ocha will only add to this talented artist’s reputation.
On the new remix, original producer Coflo said, “When I first heard it, I was of course in love with the rich sonics…but what really got me is that somehow Martin landed in between a dub and a full vocal remix. Just when I think he doesn’t have any new tricks he surprises me! I couldn’t be more proud and honored to have him work on one of the most beloved tunes that Lady C and I have done together.”
Over the past 10 years, Cody ‘Coflo’ Ferreira’s remixes and original productions can be found sprinkled throughout many respected and influential catalogues such as Terry Hunter’s T’s Box, Atjazz Record Company, Local Talk, Fatsouls and more. Whether it’s dynamic dance-floor energy or eclectic production choices, Coflo brings a true dancer’s touch to his music. As a lifelong student of the American style of house dance and the Afro-Brazilian martial art Capoeira, he infuses his dance and movement experience into his musical productions.
Lady C is internationally known for her unique versatility and original style in both dance and music. She first received international acclaim with Calgary funk improv band Freak Motif, where she commanded the stage as front woman dancing, singing and hyping up the crowd.
In 2012 she moved on to collaborate with fellow Soul Shifters crew member Coflo making electronic music together which has received support and accolades from such luminaries as Atjazz, Osunlade, DJ Carlos and Hector Romero, among many others.
Ocha Records continues to push to the corners of creativity in dance music while never sacrificing what Carlos Mena a.k.a. Casamena and the Ocha family know feels good in their souls. The label has delivered quality releases from artists including Osunlade, Black Coffee, DJ Spinna, Ron Trent, Danny Krivit, Quentin Harris, Deetron, the late Paul Johnson, Timmy Regisford, Ezel, Boddhi Satva, Sacred H3art, Atjazz and more, and consistently supported dance music from the Africa diaspora, giving a valuable platform to new artists from South Africa. Ocha means ‘spirit’ or ‘deity’ in the Yoruba religion of Ifa, and like the name, dance music fans will always find spirit and soul in the music of Ocha Records.
