Cestrian Unveils Debut Album Southview Community Center

By Rhys Buckham August 4, 2026 2 min read

Vivod proudly presents the long-awaited debut album Southview Community Center from Cestrian, the acclaimed electro project of Ali Renault and a defining statement from one of the genre’s most distinctive voices.

Presented across eight tracks digitally, with five selected cuts pressed to vinyl, Southview Community Center distils everything that has made Cestrian such a compelling force in underground electronic music. Razor sharp drum programming, brooding analogue synthesis and hypnotic machine funk combine to create a body of work that feels equally suited to solitary listening and dark, underground dancefloors. Cinematic yet uncompromisingly functional, the record navigates the space between dystopian futurism and timeless electro with remarkable confidence.

Conceived as a soundtrack for uncertain times, these meticulously crafted compositions are designed to clear the mind, fuel the imagination and offer only the faintest glimmer of hope. Dark, immersive and relentlessly propulsive, the album captures Cestrian at its most refined, delivering a debut that feels both deeply personal and unmistakably built for the future.

Since emerging in 2006, Cestrian has served as Ali Renault’s vehicle for exploring forgotten pagan folklore and the ancient mysteries of Chester through electronic folk song. Drawing together mythology, landscape and analogue electronics, the project has forged a singular identity where archaic themes meet precision crafted machine music.

Over the past two decades, Cestrian has released music through some of electro’s most respected underground imprints, including Bunker, MNX, Unknown To The Unknown, Human Shield and Dalmata Daniel, earning a reputation for consistently pushing the genre’s darker, more cinematic edges. This long-awaited debut album represents the most complete expression of that vision to date.
