Renowned DJ and producer Charman, also known as Rodney de Jong, is set to cast a spell on Tech House enthusiasts with his latest EP, “FANTASIA.” This mini collection, featuring the tracks “Fantasia” and “Sunshowers,” promises to be a representation of Charman’s deep-rooted passion for music and his musical evolution as an artist.
Charman’s musical odyssey began at the tender age of three when he first held a vinyl record in his hands, surrounded by a family deeply entrenched in the world of music. As a youngster, he explored various music genres, developing a keen interest in underground beats and the soulful vibes of Lo-Fi Hip-Hop. Charman’s dedication to his craft led him to acquire his first DJ mixer at the age of seven, marking the beginning of his DJ career.
Charman’s journey extended beyond DJing as he delved into formal music education, falling in love with the rhythmic enchantment of the djembe – a versatile drum originating from West Africa. This newfound passion propelled him into the realm of music production, where he teamed up with a friend to explore the digital wonders of FL Studio.
After three years of dedicated studio work, Charman upgraded his equipment, signaling a shift to more serious musical endeavors. At the age of 16, he marked his official DJ debut and quickly gained recognition, winning contests, and securing residencies in prominent underground clubs. Notably, Charman realized his dream of performing at Rotterdam’s esteemed Nightclub, Toffler.
Now, with an impressive portolio of club performances and track releases, Charman unveils “FANTASIA”, an EP that seamlessly blends minimal, house, and tech-house with deeper sounds. The 2 tracks showcase Charman’s growth as an artist and his ability to craft immersive musical experiences.
