Simina Grigoriu‘s record label, Kuukou, drops a hypnotic and peak time techno EP by Clif Jack.
Clif Jack is an Italian artist who returns to Kuukou after previously featuring on the imprint as part of a mixed artist EP. This time he is back with a two-track solo EP that blends bleeping synth melodies with thundering percussion.
Based in the city of Padova, Clif Jack is fresh from a track that was recently released by Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth On Acid. He has also worked with other prestigious record labels ranging from Deborah De Luca’s Solamente to Veerus’ Le Club.
He is also a skilled DJ who is well known within Northern Italy’s club scene where he regularly performs on the same line-up as icons such as Nicole Moudaber, Luigi Madonna, Ilario Alicante and Richie Hawtin.
“Imminent” opens the release with its thickset kick drum and sonar style melody synth that plays a looped melody underpinned by an acid bassline. Unfolding with the help of rattling hi-hats and ominous vocals, it builds towards an eerie breakdown that ramps up the tension before the drums slam back in.
“Restless” has a menacing lead synth with modulating tones that are layered with the thrilling intensity of dystopian pads that give the track a haunting vibe. Its thrashing percussion and digitised vocals add to the relentless energy and dark atmosphere as the track unfolds with building suspense.
