Common People Line-up Announced

The Common People team have been burning the midnight oil planning our twin-site shindig that will be making its debut in the stunning greenery of Oxford’s South Park and returning for a second instalment in the verdant surrounds of Southampton Common. And now we are extremely pleased to reveal a binary bank holiday bonanza, sharing some line-up and adding fantastic local talent to give that homespun feel, each site will feature rock n roll legends, hip-hop royalty, UK garage trailblazers, sound system pioneers, and much more, all topped off with a lavish helping of the Bestival team’s renowned magic, mayhem and merriment. Uniting party lovers across the heart of England, the south coast and beyond, don’t miss out on the festival season’s stunning opener this 28-29 May 2016.

Common People curator Rob da Bank says: “Common People was one of my funnest weekends festivaling in 2015, and believe me there was some competition! We loved it so much we decided to share the love with Oxford, another beautiful city and site with a fantastic musical heritage and a thriving arts scene and diverse crowd of party people. I'm really excited to share our first announcement, with some corkers from Primal Scream and Craig David to one of my all-time faves Public Enemy, and up-and-coming acts Jamie Lawson and Kurupt FM. Hope you can come and sing along with the Common People!”

Plus there will be a Big Top takeover courtesy David Rodigan MBE presents Ram Jam, and we’ll have sets across the weekend from Housewurk and Back for Good.

Our second Southampton Common jamboree will see Common People get underway on the same day with a triumphant homecoming set from Craig David with his acclaimed TS5 show, plus we’ll have sets from Primal Scream, Public Enemy, Gaz Coombes, Ghostpoet, The Sugarhill Gang, Don Broco and West End Kids. And the mighty Hospitality will be taking over the Big Top.
