‘Gumbo presents the miserable Saturday night; a cathartic evening of self pity, followed by an uplifting explosion of grooves. With Christmases festivities now a distant memory and summer’s sunlight a long way from your sallow skin, retreat to the basement of The Slaughtered Lamb for a night of two halves. Firstly we shall wallow in Morrissey and Marrs maudlin melodies and other deliciously depressing discs, then enough will be enough. We shall raise two fingers to despair and dance ourselves delirious. Dryathletes, your pious smuggery is not welcome here. Gumbo is for those who know how to deal with the bleak midwinter.
