Hii Spirits – 2young (feat. Rromarin)

Hii Spirits is a new project from Melbourne producer Jack Arentz, who is crafting a euphoric blend of indie-dance music with atmospheric house elements, resulting in a sound that can be likened to a mix between Amtrac, Bonobo and Icarus.

Jack launched the project back in December 2023 with a song called ‘Reminds Me Of You (feat. Rromarin)’, which was released via Selected and has since amassed over 3 million streams on Spotify alone.

Jack has a new Hii Spirits single to share with us this week called ‘2young’, which features the gorgeous voice of Melbourne artist Rromarin, and as Jack reveals below, it is a song about feelings of nostalgia and memories that conjure up heavy emotions.

“2young evolved from an errant synth riff that captured my imagination; there was something magical about the way it was modulating. While inspired, I quickly arranged some other production and sent it to Rromarin. She returned with ethereal vocals that told a story about toxic love and the mistakes of youth, floating in a suburban world.

I want my music to conjure feelings of nostalgia and emotive memories. This song felt like it perfectly captured that energy, and I love the way that the production aligns with Rromarin’s vocals to paint a vivid image.” ~ Hii Spirits
