HOTLY TIPPED BREAKTHROUGH ARTISTS JOIN THE T IN THE PARK LINE-UP

T in the Park festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager are delighted to announce that Alessia Cara, The Lightning Seeds, Ash, Augustines, Sunset Sons, BØRNS, DMA’s, VANT, The Struts and The Sherlocks JR Green will be joining the line-up for T in the Park 2016.

They join already announced headliners The Stone Roses, Calvin Harris and Red Hot Chili Peppers at this year’s T in the Park at Strathallan Castle over 8th – 10th July 2016.

From the moment Canadian artist Alessia Cara started uploading covers to YouTube from her bedroom at the age of 13, she grabbed the attention of fans and critics alike. Now 19, signed to Def Jam Recordings and an R & B-pop force of nature with a Billboard Charts no.1 debut single Here, Alessia’s mature pen game is matched by her larger-than-life voice; she’s dazzling and chameleon-like, boasting the kind of versatility that has already made her a force. With a top 10 US album Know It All, and being named No. 2 in the BBC Sound of 2016 poll Alessia is going quickly, now it’s up to the rest of the world to catch up.

Blazing out of the blocks with two and half minutes of pure power pop, T in the Park favourites Ash made their traditional 'Ash Wednesday' return with Cocoon, the first single from their new studio album Kablammo! Coming eight years after Twilight Of The Innocents, the album Ash vowed would be their last, the band return with renewed enthusiasm for playing together which is evident over the album's 12 tracks, the 'in your face' quality which has made Ash one of the UK's best -loved bands.

The Lightning Seeds, fronted by Liverpudlian Ian Broudie, have an impressive 12 top 20 UK hits under their belts including Pure, Change, Sugar Coated Iceberg and You Showed Me. They have released seven studio albums to date – six as the Lightning Seeds and one Ian Broudie solo album, 2004′s Tales Told. Ian is currently writing and recording the first Lightning Seeds album in years. This July will see the band return to T in the Park.

When VANT trickled a few musical outputs to some key figures in the music industry at the start of 2015 it caused a chaotic feeding frenzy. This furore eventually resulted in VANT penning a deal with Parlophone. Zane Lowe championed debut single Parasite when he made VANT his Next Hype and played Parasite three times in a single show. Follow up singles have been named as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the World not once but twice, added to the Radio 1’s In New Music We Trust playlist with most recent release Fly-By Alien is currently on the Radio 1 B List. They toured throughout 2015 and have made appearances with Royal Blood, toured on DIY Magazine's NEU tour with The Big Moon and InHeaven and July will see them bring their special blend of rock to T in the Park.

Augustines return with their first new material in two years, the single Are We Alive, released today, is the first single to be taken from the New York-based band’s upcoming third album, which will follow on Caroline International later this year. Augustines join Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds on tour in Europe in early-mid April, before heading to the UK for T in the Park in July.

Wasting time isn't what DMA's are about. Their debut album might not have been released yet, but they say they've already got enough songs written for a second album. They're a band that are constantly writing, constantly experimenting, splicing bits of old songs together to make something new like an audio Frankenstein's monster. That creative drive and curiosity combined with their unflappable outlook and sheer, undeniable talent has, in Hills End, already produced a body of work that's both intriguing and captivating. With gigs and festivals across the globe, from Australia's Laneway Festival to California's Coachella and T in the Park this July, DMA's will be unstoppable in 2016.

The Anglo-Aussie band Sunset Sons have had a blinding past 12 months securing Radio 1 (Track of The Day) and Radio X (Daytime Playlist) support, and winning over hundreds of new fans night after night by opening up for Imagine Dragons. Prior to that, the band embarked on a sold-out UK tour through the spring, which ended on a sold-out London Scala show – all none too shabby for a bunch of four surfers who fell into music as a means to pay the bills just two years previously. Their debut album Very Rarely Say Die released today was recorded between London, Nashville and their adopted hometown of Hossegor with Jacquire King (Kings of Leon) and James Lewis (Arctic Monkeys).

Growing up in coastal Michigan, Garrett Borns moved from one inspiration to another. His first artistic love was visual arts and then came music thanks to an eccentric piano teacher. At the age of fifteen BØRNS attended the prestigious summer program at Interlochen Center for the Arts to study filmmaking while writing songs on the side with the music majors. Playing local gigs throughout high school and college, BØRNS ended up in a secluded treehouse home in the Los Angeles canyons where he wrote his debut EP Candy a set that filters the singer’s naturally moody, sensual sound through “an explosion of sunlight,” as he puts it. BØRNS’ single Electric Love on Interscope Records took over the airwaves last year.

L.A.-based, UK-bred band The Struts, full of reckless swagger and hugely catchy hooks, are returning the sweet and dirty spirit of glam to modern rock & roll. Having already taken Europe by storm with such feats as opening for the Rolling Stones before a crowd of 80,000 in Paris last year, the four-piece has been breaking through to American audiences and released their new album Do Nothing on Interscope Records earlier this month.

Also featuring will be Sheffield four-piece The Sherlocks. Consisting of two sets of brothers, they have been making waves with sold out shows across the UK, demanding the attention of audiences with their energy infused music. New single Heart of Gold was supported across Radio 1 from Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Greg James, & BBC6 Music’s Steve Lamacq.

Hailing from the village of Strontian in the Scottish Highlands, JR Green’s debut EP Bring the Witch Doctor mixes traditional folk elements with sharp, angst-driven lyrics. The young brothers’ exciting first release comes via Hits the Fan Records, the same label to have released fellow T in the Park artist Frightened Rabbit’s debut LP.
