How one Instagram reel led to an official C.C. Catch video
It all started with my love for the hits of the 80s. Back then I was still performing as O’Neill, and I recorded an official cover of C.C. Catch’s “Cause You Are Young” – it was released on Warner Music. The work was hard, and at one point I almost gave up, but I finished the track and posted a short Reel on Instagram.
Then something incredible happened. Marco Müller, C.C. Catch’s younger brother, sent me a direct message. He said: “If this were my sister’s voice, I would gladly share this song on my page.”
Marco and I started talking every day, and soon he personally asked me to make an official music video for C.C. Catch’s original song “Born On The Wind”. I wrote the script and created the video with AI: a rye field, golden ears of grain, the wind and a lot of open air.
When I sent the first shots, the whole C.C. Catch family was stunned. It turned out that about 30 years ago C.C. Catch had filmed a video together with Chris Norman. That work was never finished, and the footage stayed in the family archive – nobody has ever seen it. In that video C.C. Catch walked through the very same kind of rye field, in a similar dress, touching the ears of grain in the same way.
C.C. Catch herself told me: “I’m confused… you couldn’t have seen that video, but you repeated its story exactly, decades later.” For the family, it was a sign that I was the right person. The work on the video took two and a half months, with Marco Müller guiding the project closely.
The video is out now on the official C.C. Catch YouTube channel.
Thanks to Bogato Records and Mikhail Mistyukov, who handled the legal side and the clearance with the rights holders – that is how the video was released as an official C.C. Catch music video.
Marco and I are still in touch almost every day and are working on a new project together. Today I perform as AXENO – a music producer and saxophonist – and release a new single on Warner Music almost every week.
