‘How To Make Music Immersive’ Emika returns to Kickstarter to crowd-fund her own immersive recording studio and next album Fountain.
Having successfully crowd-funded her first symphony orchestra project ‘Melanfonie’, Emika has settled on a different kind of symphonic vision, one inspired by performing live in some of the biggest planetariums across Europe.
Her earlier campaign ‘How To Make A Symphony’ (2014) was a big departure from the bass-heavy electronic and techno inspired songs she was already known for at that time. Saying about the piece, “I hired double the amount of bass in a traditional symphony orchestra, and used many concepts from my studio world, such as echo, in the composition in the score.”
Not one to shy away from uncharted possibilities within music today, the professionally trained sound designer understands how to build a bridge between music tech, live performance, and studio recording. Connecting Dolby, Apple Spatial, Genelec, Ableton, and the world of cinema, she plans to upgrade her current music studio in South Germany to an immersive speaker system and make a new album. ‘I enjoy performing live in
planetariums with 360 full dome visuals so much, I decided I’d like to develop this further with immersive-song writing in my studio, one I plan to share with other artists.
Emika, hopes to raise 20k EUR for the studio upgrade. If she achieves this goal and builds the studio, she plans to start artist residencies and grow her label Emika Records.
