Various Artists - Ibiza Deep 2016

Zulu Records bring the summer to a close in style with their latest instalment. Ibiza Deep 2016 features 14 tracks, 7 of which are exclusive, with the remaining half being hand-picked favourites from the mighty Zulu collection. Whether you’re getting a party started or chilling out watching the sun go down, this collection of deep house tracks will certainly hit the spot.

Album opener Bancall sets the tone up nicely with a euphoric chilled house track, which matches up perfectly with Roger M’s ‘Keeping Love.’ We’ve heard a lot from Fletch in the last couple of months, his Zulu presence has been huge, so there’s no wonder he’s featured twice on the album with tracks ‘Saffron’ and ‘Riding Hippos.’

Another Zulu favourite, Marc Vedo puts a groove-ridden bass record on the table with ‘Burning Up’ as Jonathan Ulysses teams up with Peter Brown and House of Virus for an atmospheric beat in ‘Pacific State.’ This compilation has elements of house, deep house and all things in between, this is explored in Sean Mamoru’s ‘TIMW,’ which has a slightly more aggressive tone.

Cult 45’s suitably titled ‘Mello’ adds even more depth to the record, as Jacques Le Noir’s jazz infused ‘Kuala Lumper’ has enough funk to last for days. The catchy, soulful vocal hook of Game Chaser’s ‘Zombies’ takes us back to the nineties, as does ‘Alright Now’ by Radio Rental, which features a very familiar sample.

M-Tek’s remix of Cult 45’s ‘Coming on Strong’ closes the record perfectly. A dramatic, steady bass rhythm that encapsulates the feel and groove of the whole record.

Ibiza Deep 2016 is the perfect remedy to keep the summer vibes flowing, and as for Zulu, they keep on delivering time and time again.
