Electronic tastemaker duo IS U IS U (Kito and Chrome Sparks) have unveiled their anticipated debut Melter EP out now via Mad Decent.
Featuring previously released singles ‘All I Need’ and ‘Lights On’, the four-track EP is a fanciful display of Kito and Chrome Sparks’ skilled production and flawless cohesion as a superduo. Melter is indie dance at its finest, fusing an underground aesthetic with an alternative take on electronic sounds. Created for clubland, Melter dances through a medley of pitched vocal chops, intricate synthwork, and rhythmic percussion that is instantly mesmerizing and eternally blissful. Throughout Melter, Kito and Chrome Sparks revive samples from old studio sessions, including a capellas from Kllo and VanJess, the latter of which also served as inspiration for their namesake.
“Melter was inspired by our mutual love of electronic music with juicy chord progressions. We didn’t actually set out to make an EP, or a duo! But these tracks came so easily and we didn’t have to search for a sound that it felt rude not to. We hope you enjoy this EP as much as we enjoyed making it.” – IS U IS U
At a combined height of 12’ 3”, IS U IS U is the new DJ superduo poised to tower over dance floors worldwide. IS U IS U combines the talents of Australian-born Kito, the skyscraper of sound, and indie-electronic artist Chrome Sparks, the mountain of melody. Both equally accomplished producers, DJs, and songwriters, Kito and Chrome Sparks have built robust catalogs of solo releases and collaborations across many genres with artists such as Skrillex, Fletcher, Flume, Khalid, Channel Tres, and Jorja Smith. Forging a bond as LA transplants navigating the dichotic sides of the music industry, IS U IS U taps into the pair’s vast array of cross-genre expertise while exploring their shared predilections towards left-field pop and forward-thinking electronic music. As IS U IS U, the pair have covered Spotify’s metropolis playlist and garnered airplay across SiriusXM and triple j.
An ode to the underground aesthetic of Kito and Chrome Sparks’ dance music roots, Melter is available now on all platforms.
